In this workshop students of the Middle Eastern Student Association at UCLA learned about the tradition of DEQ and created their own designs with an interactive template.

EDUCATION/EMPOWERMENT ACADEMY

DEQ: MARKING A RESISTANCE

Participants of the Sebaey Elbwishi Academy, organized by Queeraspora e.V., learned about the resistance that comes with the practice of an oppressed and erased culture. At the end of the workshop a collective piece was created in which everyone block printed their own DEQ stories.

ANCIENT TREASURES - BLOCKPRINT

Flying Carpet is a remote childrens festival traveling in Merdin and surrounding to serve art, culture and education in vulnerable communities.

In this workshop children learned about the symbols of traditional DEQ and block printed their own desings on felt garlands, connecting to the ancient local knowledge of Mesopotamia.
